Propane: The Versatile & Sustainable Fuel Solution
Versatility is just one of the fuel’s benefits
Need a way to warm your Texas home’s pool? How about a form of power for the backup generator you have stored away in your garage in case there is a blackout? Do you own an office building that needs to be heated? Well, guess what – propane can take care of all of this and more!
Already impressed with the fuel’s versatility? We are too, but we have barely scratched the surface when it comes to exactly what propane can do.
Let’s look at how versatile propane is in Texas
One of the many benefits of propane as a fuel is how versatile it is. It can be used to do quite a long list of things in both residential and commercial settings. Just how long you ask? Let’s take a look!
When it comes to a home, propane can be used to fuel:
- Backup generators
- Clothes dryers
- Fire pits
- Fireplaces
- Pool and spa heaters
- Space heaters
- Outdoor lighting
- Cooking ranges
- Outdoor grills
- Home heating systems
Commercial propane can be used to:
- Power and fuel grills, deep fryers, broilers, warming stations and cooking ranges that are used within the food service industry.
- Power space heaters that are used for supplemental heating purposes on construction sites as well as in outdoor areas of restaurants.
- Power clothes dryers that hotels, nursing homes and health care facilities to do mass amounts of laundry.
- Dry crops, sanitize milking processes and heat poultry production facilities, greenhouses, hog barns, farmhouses and water tanks within the agricultural industry.
- Power generators that are used for backup power when there is a blackout by schools, stores, hospitals and additional health care facilities.
- Fuel forklifts that are used in distribution centers, on construction sites and in warehouses.
- Power additional equipment such as scissor lifts and commercial lawn mowers.
- Heat office buildings.
If that’s not versatility for you we don’t know what is!
The benefits of propane don’t stop at versatility
In addition to being incredibly versatile (and therefore convenient) propane is also very efficient, reliable, accessible, safe and cost effective.
On top of all that, propane is also environmentally friendly. It is a clean-burning fuel and, therefore, considered a green energy source. In fact, propane is listed as an alternative fuel in both the 1990 Clean Air Act and the Energy Policy Act of 1992.
Propane’s carbon intensity is lower than the carbon intensity of standard gasoline, diesel fuel and electricity. It is also methane-free and almost completely clear of particulate matter, which is considered a carcinogen.
Since propane comes from the same wells as natural gas and oil, no additional drilling is used in the propane production process. Additionally, the fact that most of the propane that is used in the United States is made domestically reduces how much transportation is involved in moving the fuel around. All of this helps the environment as well.
